a busway: solution for the city?

Well, today ... weird!

Woke up, felt very motivated, but spent sometime in front of TV watching KBS World, but sumhw, during my trip to the work, i found that the development of new busway route is kinda interesting to be discussed...

I used busway since 2005. Fast, Cheap, Easy, and more secure compare to other public transportation. But man, the line!! wuihhhhh.. I wonder, they, i mean, the local government, did they use a feasibility study or not when designing it? OR did they just focus on financial aspects other than HR? Marketing?

Let's see the HR things!Although Mr. and Mrs. Driver can be said very neat.. with suit, black sunglasses but sumhw the way they drive it is not so smooth!.. Must be because of the way they did their work in the past... Most of them worked as drivers of public busses. wuihh.. And never expect them to be polite to the customers. Yelling, Saying bad words, even rejecting customers who want to enter the bus are some common stuffs when using it. Speeding above limits, pushing the bells without thinking that others have ears to protect are also other stuffs that make people negatively react of it.

I wonder why the local govt doesnt solve the problem. They probably never realized that customers are the king, while employees only the intermediate. They focus more on satisfying themselves rather than outsiders. I mean, there's no problem of satisfying both parties right?
Probably the level of education of those who work in that business influence the way they behave. Or probably, there's no exact training of it.

Marketing is the second reason. I somehw see that local govt focuses more on the price and place things rather than the product itself. Lately, the number of routes increases, which means people from the south can go to the east, west, and north easily. It is a very good solution for those who need fast transportation.. But it's not the best solution for the existing market. The essence of busway is to redeem the traffic in this city. Traffic means cars. Cars mean personal cars.. Now, the idea of busway is to minimize the use of personal cars by persuade people who own cars to use busway instead. Recently the problem is on the unclear and undefine target market. Focus on rich people, but turns out, not-so-rich people are those who use it mostly. I am not saying that those who don't have cars cannot use it, but it's just that it's for redeem the traffic!

Rich prefer dislike busway. They don't want to use it. They complain if their "streets" being overtaken by the builing of new routes. They prefer use their cars. Simple reasons, they argue that those who use busway don't know how to behave, the staffs are very rude, long and complicated lines, the bridge is not so user-friendly, especially for those who handicap and old people (look at the length of the bridge..), and queeing it can make clothes in wet although there's no rain at that moment.

Nah what should we do then? There's no correct and easy way to solve this problem. We probably still need to learn and experience bad things for good things in the future. It probably is the result of some errors, or incorrect choice of decision taken by past govt about rapid transportation at jakarta, where they chose bus rather than trains. They argued the cost to acquire train was more expensive than bus. It was the year where our country is richer than other ASEAN countries. Compare to KL and SG that prefer trains.. And see what happen to them nowadays.

Some tips if you want to use busway:

1. Plan ahead your trip by knowing where to get out and type of bus you want to use.
2. Be sure to mark-up your time by 30 minutes in order to anticipate some delays and traffics.
3. Don't over make-up, dress, or even decorate yourself with jewels and stuffs.
4. For those who sweat a lot, bring extra t-shirts.
5. For those who don't like to be in line, bring iPod and a pocket-mini fan.
6. Focus on the streets and buildings, rather than the announcer.

In the end, use your charm. You never know who you gonna meet there... ^^
